What is Open Science?
Open science refers to a collection of research practices aimed at increasing accessibility and transparency of science. These practices can be incorporated at all stages of scientific research and may include preregistering hypotheses, sharing study materials (e.g., code, data), and ensuring access to published articles, among others.
A recent survey of scientists in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) found generally low use of open science practices in the field but a strong desire to learn more to engage in these practices in the future (El Amin et al., 2022).
How will the OpenCSD Journal Club work?
The OpenCSD Journal Club is an online journal club registered with ReproducibiliTea. ReproducibiliTea has been helping researchers create Open Science journal clubs since 2018 and now has over 100 (!) affiliated clubs across the globe. Based on ReproducibiliTea's suggested readings, we have created a 12-session journal club that will run once a month from January-December 2023. The journal club will be led by team members Mariam El Amin and Elaine Kearney.
